The Eucharist is the "Sacrament of sacraments," and "the source and summit of the Christian life" (CCC 1211, 1324). Under the form of bread and wine, Jesus is fully present: His body, blood, soul, and divinity. It is an amazing gift of love that our God is not satisfied with a solely spiritual communion, but that He desires to remain with us in our entire being, body and soul. It's like a marriage, with every Sunday as the greatest wedding feast! Because of the immense dignity of this Sacrament, before making their First Communion, your children will also make their First Reconciliation so that they can receive Jesus with a clean heart. Our goal is to help your children recognize Jesus in the Sacrament and His great love, and that every reception of His precious body and blood afterwards becomes a fruitful experience where they are drawn ever closer into His Sacred Heart. Where do we start? Preparation for First Holy Communion begins in 1st grade and concludes with the reception of the Sacrament in 2nd grade. For Catholic school students, this takes place within their Theology curriculum. Public and home school students, however, will need to join their parish Religious Education program. If you are outside of these norms, please contact the Religious Ed office.
We will have a parent meeting for incoming 2nd graders on Tuesday, September 15th at 6:00 PM in the school gym.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the Sacrament of Christian Initiation in which the Holy Spirit descends upon the recipient and imparts an indelible seal on their soul, conforming them more fully to Christ and strengthening their Baptismal graces, increasing in them the gifts of the Spirit.
It's like a personal Pentecost. The same Spirit that rested on the Apostles with tongues of fire now comes to reside in us. And by this grace, we are similarly sent forth to proclaim the Gospel with our lives. Confirmation is not an exit or graduation from life in the Church; rather, it is what enables us to fully live as members of Christ's Body!
Where do we start?
Preparation for Confirmation begins in 7th grade and concludes with the reception of the Sacrament in 8th grade. For Catholic school students, this takes place within their Theology curriculum. Public and home school students, however, will need to join their parish Religious Education program. If you are outside of these norms, please contact the Religious Ed office.
Incoming 8th graders who have completed their first year of Sacramental preparation should register for Confirmation using the PDF found on the left side of this page. Alongside registration is a $50 Confirmation prep fee, which covers the cost of retreat supplies and gowns. Families that are financially unable to pay this fee should contact the Religious Ed office for a partial or complete waiver. The Sacraments will never be withheld from someone on account of money, as God's grace is free gift.
We will have a parent meeting for incoming 8th graders on Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:00 PM in the school gym.
